When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help, I want the hand of AA always to be there. And for that I am responsible.
The Lansing Central AA Office is a service office established to aid AA meetings and other groups in their common purpose of carrying the Alcoholics Anonymous message to the alcoholic who still suffers.
Where do the contributions come from to operate?
The Central Office depends upon contributions from local members and meeting groups for the necessary support to carry out its responsibilities. This support comes in the form of volunteer help and financial contributions. Our efficiency and the continuation of services are related to the level of support we receive from the recovery community.
And what do we do with them?
- Answer inquiries from those seeking help including suffering alcoholics, sober alcoholics, family members, professionals and the general public.
Carry AA's message into treatment facilities, hospitals and rehabilitation centers by arranging for volunteer groups to attend weekly meetings at these facilities.
Organize and host sober events in the community for members and their families. Our newsletter “Reaching Out” provides a forum for the local community to share their experience, strength and hope in print.
Work with the professional community to create an awareness of AA, especially those professionals that are likely to encounter active alcoholics. “The focus is on cooperation, not affiliation”.
Inform the public about the AA program and present informational talks to universities, businesses, and civic groups.
Coordinate the work of those who carry the message to alcoholics 'behind the walls', working in contact with the Tri-County area correctional facilities.
Provide an information exchange for local groups and communities.
Publish tri-county meeting directory and monthly newsletter "Reaching Out".
Order, sell and distribute conference-approved literature.
How can you help?
Volunteer at the Central Office - Help by answering our hotline phones.
12 Step Volunteer - Sign-up to be available to meet with suffering alcoholics who wish to become sober.
Communicate with the Central Office to maintain current information about meetings, locations, times, and special events throughout the Lansing-area, Michigan, the US, and many international destinations.
Be a Group Representative - Represent your group at the monthly business meetings.
